What’s the best type of camera for beginners? That’s what we discuss in this video. There are so many options it can be tough to know which one is best. It’s going to depend on what you plan on shooting. Here’s some basic info:

Smart Phone – A solid choice to film just about anything. Great option if you don’t have any money right now, but you do have a smart phone. A few drawbacks being battery life and storage capacity.

Go Pro – Fun adventure camera. Great for action shots and extreme sports. Not the best for general story telling.

DSLR – Probably your best option if you have the money. Great image quality and interchangeable body and lenses make it a great investment.

Point and Shoot/Digital Camera – You can either find your old one lying around the house or buy a decent one for under $200. Very versatile, compact, and great because you can change batteries and memory cards easily.

Great video 🙂 I accept the fact that the content is more important. A Phone camera is more than enough to begin with. 🙂

Wonderful video!! I started with a flip video camcorder then after four years of using that constantly, it broke so I saved up for the Canon T5i. It is awesome!! But you are right. Story is #1

    Hey +Randy Alan nice video
Could you please suggest me a digital camera that has good battery life
As I'm using a Nikon coolpix for all the videos its not really a good option considering the short battery life
I've just started making vlogs and need a good budget digital camera with good battery

at this point any of these (except for the gopro) is better than what I have now, which is a gopro hero+ with a broken lcd because I dropped it in water with just the skeleon casing, and that gopro only has the casing that separates it from water damage, and I have an lg vs876 and am unable to upgrade due to insufficient funding. 1 like = 1 prayer. but despite these setbacks I've been able to make what I think is enjoyable content. but donations are accepted with open arms <3

Hi Randy, ive taken many pics with my phone and i want to go a step farther. I go on vacation a lot so those digital cameras seem great. Do you know of a digital camera under $400 that would be better than my phone camera and have at least 20x optical zoom. Ive been looking at the Nikon COOLPIX S9900 and i dont know if i want to pull the trigger yet. It was mad in 2015 and so was my phone so it has to be better right?

    thanks.

Hey randy, thanks for the video! Very helpful?
What do you think if I got MY first camera ever as the Sony hx400 for making YouTube vids (not blogs)??? it's a bridge dslr 50x zoom, 1080 p, and all the other stuff I have no idea about. It's got wifi and NFC?
It's rather expensive for me but do you think it's worth buying this one for starting out yt for the long run???
iPhone 5 still. So terrible camera capabilities. ??☹️

I'm trying to get back into photo especially with a DSLR since I did use them in high school for yearbook. Which DSLR would you recommend for a rising college student on a budget? As well as a lens?
